Flu Vaccinations
We are now booking appointments for
flu vaccinations for those patients most at risk.
'Flu' is a
viral illness which usually has symptoms of high temperature, shivers, headache,
muscle aches and pains and often a dry cough and a sore throat. It is not
the same as a heavy cold and its symptoms would normally make even the fittest
person quite unwell needing to go to bed for a day or so. The
complications can lead to serious illness and even pneumonia.
The following groups are recommended to have the
flu vaccination:
- Chronic heart disease
- Chronic respiratory disease, including asthma
- Chronic renal disease
- Diabetes mellitus
- Immunosuppression due to disease or treatment
(patients on long term steriods)
- All aged 65 years and over
- Nursing home or long-stay facility residents
Vaccination is by appointment only. To make
your appointment please telephone the surgery on 01733 366600.
